The book “Children’s Tales of the Turkic World”, aimed at sharing the rich folklore heritage of Turkic peoples with children, has been prepared with the participation of Professor Fuzuli Bayat, Head of the Department Folklore Theory at the ANAS Institute of Folklore.
The authors of the publication include Professor Fuzuli Bayat and doctoral candidate Chaghla Cham. The book was prepared with the moral support of Professor Gurshad Zorlu, Advisor to the President of the Republic of Türkiye. Produced across the cities of Baku, Ankara and Istanbul and released in 2026, the publication brings together folktales from various regions of the Turkic world.
In the book tales from seven Turkic peoples such as Azerbaijani, Turkish, Kyrgyz, Kazakh, Uzbek, Uyghur and Tatar, reflecting their respective folklore traditions are given. A key feature of the publication is that the tales are presented first in the specific language and dialect of their region of origin and subsequently in Turkish. This approach enables children to more clearly grasp the linguistic and thematic affinities among the folklore of various Turkic peoples.
It should be noted that information about the book was also presented during the 2nd International Conference of Leading National Think Tanks of the Organization of Turkic States, held in Baku on September 16, 2026. The 2nd International Conference of Leading National Think Tanks of the Organization of Turkic States” is dedicated to the theme “Strengthening economic cooperation within the Organization of Turkic States through continuous consultations and joint research”.
