The research about the literary and cultural heritage of the Turkic world was presented at the XIV International Symposium on Altaic Communities
On the 11th of September the scientific panel sessions continued at the Central Scientific Library of ANAS organized by the ANAS Institute of Folklore within the framework of the XIV International Symposium on Altaic Communities, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress.
As part of the program for the symposium dedicated to the theme “The Past, Present and Future of Altaic Studies” the 6th and 7th panel sessions were held across four halls. Various topics related to literature, folklore, mythology, linguistics, history, philosophy, law and culture were discussed during the scientific panels.
The sessions of the sixth panel focused on topics such as the ethno-geographic approach and Turkmen literature, the 19th century literary environment of Karabakh, the traditions of Navoi, identity and national memory in Turkish and Azerbaijani prose, the evolution of folklore in medieval Azerbaijani literature against the backdrop of Altai studies, and historical-typological parallels between the Central Asian “bakhshi” tradition and the Azerbaijani ashiq art.
During the seventh panel sessions, topics such as common motifs in the folklore of Turkic peoples, the divine and demonic manifestations of the feminine principle in Turkic mythology, beliefs regarding numbers in Kyrgyz folklore, a comparative analysis of Turkic and Mongolic languages within the context of the Altaic theory, Russian loanwords in Altaic Turkic and the Turkic lexical heritage in the Hindi language were analyzied.
Thus, the scientific program of the symposium on the 11th of September featured presentations of research across various areas of Altaic and Turkic studies and an exchange of views on the topics took place.
It should be noted that the event, attended by scholars and researchers representing a total of 15 countries, is being organized by the Presidium of ANAS, the ANAS Institute of Folklore, and Azersun Holding LLC, with the support of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), TÜRKSOY, the Turkish Historical Society, the International Turkic Academy and the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB).
