On the 1^st of July in 2026 the researchers of the Institute of Folklore of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) participated in a discussion of the Folk Poetry course syllabi held at the Department of Azerbaijani and World Literature of Baku Eurasian University. The syllabi were prepared by Professor Mahmud Allahmanli, Doctor of Sciences in Philology and Associate Professor Seyfeddin Altayli.

The syllabi presented for discussion covered the aims and objectives of the course, its place within the academic curriculum, the competencies expected to be developed in students, the content of the course topics and a comprehensive bibliography.

During the discussions Head of the Folklore and Written Literature Department at the Institute of Folklore of ANAS, Doctor of Sciences in Philology Leyla Mammadova noted that the syllabi had been prepared in accordance with the required academic standards and that the topics were systematically and appropriately organized.

Head of the South Azerbaijan Department and Doctor of Sciences in Philology Matanat Abbasli highly appreciated the significance of the course syllabi and proposed the inclusion of folklore examples from South Azerbaijan. She mentioned that it would be beneficial to present comparatively the South Azerbaijani versions of epics, proverbs and sayings, bayatis (traditional Azerbaijani folk quatrains) and folk songs that had been collected and published in the region.

PhD, Associate Professor Elchin Galiboglu also praised the preparation of the Folk Poetry course syllabi. He noted that the syllabus would play an important role in transmitting the spirit of folklore to the younger generation.

PhD, Associate Professor Aynura Safarova mentioned the importance of studying and promoting national folklore in the context of globalization. She also noted that such discussions would contribute to the development of future academic cooperation.

At the end of the event Head of the Department of Azerbaijani and World Literature at Baku Eurasian University Elmira Mammadova expressed her gratitude to the researchers of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS for their active participation in the discussions. The meeting concluded with a commemorative group photograph.
