The International Scientific Conference entitled “Teaching Turkic Languages, Literatures and Histories in the Context of Contemporary Challenges” was held within the framework of the “Turkic World Week” dedicated to the 100^th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress. The conference was jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Baku State University (BSU), TURKSOY, the Turkic Academy, the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the Turkish Language Association.

At the third panel session titled “The Culture, History, and Teaching of Turkic Peoples” held at Baku State University Associate Professor Aynur Ibrahimova, a Leading Researcher at the Institute of Folklore of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), made a presentation entitled “Chanlibel in the Epic of Koroglu: A Model of the Common Turkic Epic Space”.

In her presentation various variants and versions of the epic Koroglu epic were examined through a comparative analysis. It was argued that Chanlibel should be understood not as a specific geographical location but as a symbolic epic space embodying the shared Turkic epic consciousness, mythological worldview and cultural memory. This interpretation was substantiated through scholarly analysis.

It should also be noted that the conference proceedings of the International Scientific Conference “Teaching Turkic Languages, Literatures, and Histories in the Context of Contemporary Challenges” dedicated to the 100^th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress, have been published.
