ANAS Folklore Institute Researcher Participated in International Forum

The II Forum on “Turkmen Heritage: Solidarity of Civil Society Organizations” was held on 22–25 June 2026. The event was organized by the Körpü Turkmen Heritage Research Center Public Union in partnership with the Agency for State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The forum aimed to promote the preservation of Turkmen heritage, publicize shared historical, cultural-spiritual values, strengthen cooperation and solidarity among civil society organizations.

The forum, which brought together nearly 30 Turkmen intellectuals and researchers from Iraq, Türkiye, Lebanon and Syria, commenced its work in Nakhchivan. On the 23rd of June the scientific discussion entitled “Turkmen Heritage: Language, Culture and History” was organized with the active participation of representatives of scientific community, scholars and intellectuals of Nakhchivan.

During the scientific discussion, moderated by PhD, Associate Professor, Leading Researcher at the Department of Turkic Peoples' Folklore of the ANAS Folklore Institute Sakina Gaybaliyeva, it was noted that strengthening cooperation with Turkmen communities would contribute to expanding scholarly research in linguistics, folklore, ethnography, history and other fields, while also reinforcing the existing academic foundation.

It should be noted that the forum concluded on the 25th of June with a panel discussion and an artistic programme held as part of a large-scale event at the International Mugham Center in Baku.
