Huseyn Javid’s and Abdulhag Hamid’s activities were analyzed in the context of folklore at the Department of Folklore and Written Literature
On the 3rd of June the Department of Folklore and Written Literature of the Institute of Folklore of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) held its regular academic seminar. During the seminar the researcher of the Department Rada Abbasova made a presentation entitled “The Use of Proverbs and Sayings in the Works of Huseyn Javid and Abdülhak Hamid”.
At the presentation it was mentioned that the incorporation of proverbs and traditional sayings into the works of Huseyn Javid and Abdulhag Hamid were one of the distinctive features reflecting both writers’ close connection with folk creativity, national and spiritual values and the shared intellectual and cultural heritage of the Turkic world.
It was noted that, through their use of folk wisdom, both authors enhanced the expressive power of their literary works while demonstrating the poetic and aesthetic potential of the national worldview. As Romantic writers, they also drew inspiration from the mythological, philosophical and spiritual layers of folklore, artistically conveying the richness of the Turkic cultural tradition.
The researcher further noted that neither Huseyn Javid nor Abdulhag Hamid merely preserved and transmitted the wisdom embodied in folk sayings, rather, they enriched it with new artistic and aesthetic meanings, transforming it into exemplary works of literary craftsmanship.
The seminar was concluded with an engaging discussion, during which participants exchanged views on the topic and the presenter responded to questions raised by the audience.
