Scientific seminar at the Institute of Folklore: the issue of common comic characters in the folklore of the Turkic peoples was discussed
The next scientific seminar was held at the Department of Folklore of Turkic Peoples of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS. In the scientific seminar the theme “Common Comic Characters in the Folklore of Turkic Peoples” was listened by Elnara Amirli, a leading researcher at the Department of Folklore of Turkic Peoples, Doctor of Philosophy in Philology, Associate Professor. The speaker gave information about the research conducted on comic characters specific to Azerbaijani folklore and discussed the comic characters specific to folklore, their social function, their relationship with laughter and other characteristics.
The speaker further noted that the main goal of the report was to identify common comic characters specific to the folklore of the Turkic peoples and to determine the patterns to which they belong. The examples from other epic genres of folklore also contained certain comic episodes and comic characters who participated in them. At the end of her speech, the speaker mentioned that comic characters in Azerbaijani folklore were the main carriers of ethnic thought and social consciousness.
At the end the head of the Department of Folklore of Turkic Peoples, Doctor of Sciences in Philology, Professor Afzaladdin Asger made a speech and gave his recommendations to the speaker on the topic. Professor Almaz Hasangizi, Doctor of Philosophy in Philology, Associate Professor Laman Suleymanova, Doctor of Philosophy in Philology, Associate Professor Gumru Shahriyar, Doctor of Philosophy in Philology, Associate Professor Aynura Safarova and Doctor of Philosophy in Philology Khalida Mammadova made speeches about the theme.
