On the 7^th of May in 2026 at 2:30 p.m. the presentation of the book “Zwischen Moderne und Archaik”: Transregionale Spannungen in der Musikkultur Aserbaidschans im 20. Jahrhundert” (Between Modernity and Archaic: Transregional Influences in Azerbaijani Musical Culture in the 20^th Century), authored by the well-known musicologist, composer and publicist Elmir Mirzayev and a scientific seminar on the same topic will be organized in the conference hall of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS.

The event will take place in a hybrid format - both in person and online. The seminar will discuss the interrelationships of archaic and modern elements in 20^th century Azerbaijani musical culture, the dynamics of development in religious and secular spheres, as well as transregional influences formed in the context of East-Eurasian and West-European cultural relations.
