Research internship at the Institute of Folklore: transition from theory to practice for students

The fourth year students of the Faculty of Philology of Baku Eurasian University began their research internship at the Institute of Folklore of ANAS within the spring semester of the 2025–2026 academic year. The internship was organized with the aim of applying the theoretical knowledge acquired by the students in the educational process in the context of modern scientific approaches and forming their research skills.

Director of the Institute of Folklore, Doctor of Sciences in Philology, Associate Professor Hikmat Guliyev greeted the students and informed them about the main directions of scientific activity conducted at the Institute. He said that folklore is not only a legacy of the past, but also an important source for understanding today’s socio-cultural processes. The director mentioned that during the internship, along with traditional theoretical knowledge, it is important to take into account the folklore environment formed in the conditions of digital transformations and to apply a modern and complex research approach to field materials and archival samples in the context of artificial intelligence technologies, virtual social networks and Internet folklore.

Then, the head of the South Azerbaijan folklore department, Doctor of Sciences in Philology, Associate Professor Matanat Abbasova, made a speech and noted that the internship process is of great importance in terms of integrating students into the scientific environment.

During the meeting the discussions were held on issues of interest to students, including the collection, research and systematization of folklore based on academic principles.
