Associate Professor of the Folklore Institute made a speech on repression at Istanbul Commerce University
Leading researcher of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS, Doctor of Philosophy in Philology, Associate Professor Aynura Safarova participated in the symposium “Great Purges and Exiles in the Soviet Union among the years of 1924-1945” held in Istanbul, Republic of Turkey. The lecture and presentation on the topic “The Sad Fate of Azerbaijani Folklore in the Shadow of Soviet Totalitarianism” presented by Associate Professor Aynura Safarova was met with interest by the symposium participants.
The speaker spoke about the lives and activities of prominent figures of Azerbaijani folklore such as Firidun bey Kocharli, Amin Abid, Salman Mumtaz, Hanafi Zeynalli, Veli Khuluflu, Hummet Alizade and others during the period of repression, their services to the science of folklore and showed how they were destroyed by the Soviet totalitarian system.
The report attracted the attention of participating scientists from the Turkic world.
