Employees of the Folklore Institute made reports at the Conference dedicated to Samad Vurgun’s activity
On the 21st of April in 2026 the national scientific-practical conference titled “El bilir ki, sən mənimsən...” was held at the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University.
In the section entitled “Historicity and Modernity in the Poetry of Samad Vurgun” researchers representing various academic institutions made reports.
Staff members of the Institute of Folklore of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) also actively participated in the session. The leading researcher, Doctor of Sciences in Philology, Associate Professor Shakir Albalıyev made a report titled “Our Present Fate Through the Thought of Samad Vurgun” in which he analyzed aspects of the poet’s ideological world that resonate with the modern era.
Senior researcher of the Institute, PhD in Philology, Associate Professor Vusala Nasibova, presented a paper titled “Analysis of Samad Vurgun’s Heritage in the Context of Mirza Ibrahimov’s Literary-Critical Views” highlighting the literary-critical dimensions of the great poet’s activity.
The leading researcher of the Institute, PhD in Philology Khayala Aghayeva also made a report titled “Folkloric Sources of Samad Vurgun’s activity: Based on Pasha Afandiyev’s activity”. In her report, she analyzed the interrelationship between the poet’s works and folklore, drawing on Pasha Afandiyev’s research.
The presentations delivered within the framework of the conference were significant in terms of a scholarly reassessment of Samad Vurgun’s works in the context of historicity, modernity and their connection with folklore.
