Seminar on “Folklore in Ali Amirli’s Comedies: In the Context of Tradition and Modernity” Held at the Institute of Folklore

On the 15th of April the scientific seminar of the Department of Folklore and Written Literature of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS was held. Alongside the staff of the Institute the fourth-year students from Sumgait State University and Baku Slavic University, who were undertaking research internships at the Institute of Folklore, also participated in the seminar.

At the seminar, the report titled “Folklore in Ali Amirli’s Comedies: In the Context of Tradition and Modernity” was presented by the Head of the Department, Associate Professor Leyla Mammadova, Doctor of Sciences in Philology.

In conclusion, the speaker mentioned that in the analyzed comedies, the closeness to folk creativity was reflected in the ideas expressed by the characters. Thus, the critical insinuation characteristic of Ali Amirli’s humor was also typical of his other comedies.

The seminar continued with discussions around the topic.
