Associate Professor of the Institute of Folklore participated in an international symposium held in Bukhara
Maleyka Mammadova, a leading researcher at the Institute of Folklore of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Philosophy in Philology, Associate Professor, participated in an international symposium held in Bukhara, Uzbekistan. Associate Professor Maleyka Mammadova spoke as the Deputy Chair of the Organizing Committee and participated with a scientific report at the “The 1st International Symposium on the Restoration and Construction of Common Values in the Turkic World”, which took place on April 6, 2026.
She made a report on the topic of “The Belief in the jinn and jinn changeling in birth transition rituals in Turkish folk culture”. In the report mythological concepts related to the birth stage in the belief system of the Turkic peoples, especially the jinn and “jinn changeling” motif, based on folklore materials were analyzed and was met with interest by the participants.
It should be noted that “The 1st International Symposium on the Restoration and Construction of Common Values in the Turkic World” was held at the initiative of the Abul-Hasan Kharagani Center for Applied Research of Qafqaz University and the Faculty of Theology of Qafqaz University and was jointly organized by the Mevlana Institute of Literary and Philosophical Studies of Khazar University and the International Bukhara University. The event was hosted by the International Bukhara State University. The symposium was attended by scientists and researchers from 7 countries, including Turkey, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Pakistan and England.
The conference continued its work in 7 sections in both physical and online formats. The section meetings included extensive scientific discussions on topical topics such as language and education, culture and literature, history and social structures, economy and integration, as well as religious sciences and cultural interactions in the Turkic world.
