Researches about Western Azerbaijani folklore discussed at Baku Slavic University

A round table was held at Baku Slavic University on the work carried out by the ANAS Institute of Folklore on the collection, publication and research of Western Azerbaijan folklore. Laman Vagifqizi (Suleymanova), a leading researcher at the Institute of Folklore, Doctor of Philosophy in Philology, Associate Professor, who plays a special role in the collection and publication of Western Azerbaijani folklore, made an extensive presentation at the event.

Laman Vagifgizi spoke about meetings with our compatriots from Western Azerbaijan who live in various regions of our country and noted the unique characteristics of folklore storytelling in this region. She also mentioned that although the Western Azerbaijani folklore environment had lost its connection to space, it had preserved its social basis.

The associate professor mentioned that examples of Western Azerbaijani folklore are valuable and important in terms of preserving and enriching the purity of our language and protecting our national and spiritual values. The speaker also spoke extensively about the general characteristics of Western Azerbaijani folklore and its regional differences and gave the information about the individual genres.
