Azerbaijani-Iraqi Turkmen scientific and literary relations were investigated at the Institute of Folklore

By the decision of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS, the monograph “Azerbaijani-Iraqi Turkmen Literary Relations and Abdullatif Bandaroglu” by Sakina Gaybaliyeva, a leading researcher of the Department of Folklore of Turkic peoples, Doctor of Philosophy in Philology, Associate Professor, was published.

In the study the history of Azerbaijani-Iraqi Turkmen scientific and literary relations are studied and the work of the well-known researcher, public figure, poet, publisher and translator Abdullatif Bandaroglu against the background of these relations are investigated.

The book consists of a preface, an introduction, three chapters and a bibliography. The introduction briefly provides information about the areas of settlement of Turkmens in Iraq, their number and national-cultural values and reviews the scientific and literary relations between Azerbaijan and Iraq, which began in the second half of the 20th century, in the light of the work of individual scholars. Various scientific and literary events that played an important role in the development of our relations in Azerbaijan, Turkey and Iraq were also mentioned in the book.

At the end of the monograph there are copies of some letters that played the role of the main information exchange in the scientific and literary direction between the Turkman intelligentsia of Azerbaijan and Iraq in the 60-70s of the last century.

Scientific editor of the book is Honored scientist,
Professor Gazanfar Pashayev, reviewers are Professor Afzaladdin Asgar, Professor Almaz Hasangizi and Professor Siham Zangi. The monograph can be considered as one of the useful resources in the study of Azerbaijani-Iraqi Turkman scientific and literary relations.
