A seminar on the concept of miracles in legends was held at the Institute of Folklore
On the 7th of April a joint scientific seminar was organized at the Institute of Folklore of ANAS by the Department of Collection and systematization of folklore and the department of Folklore of Turkic peoples. Senior researcher of the Institute Zafar Farhadov made a report on the theme “Miracle concept in Azerbaijani legends” at the seminar. It was noted in the report that the miracle was one of the main elements that determine the poetic system of the text of the legend and lead to its perception as a text of faith by sacralizing space. Therefore, most researchers viewed the miracle as an element from the form and considered it a distinctive sign of legends.
In the report the difference between miracle and magic was also mentioned. It was noted that although there was uniqueness in the nature of the miracle, not every unusualness was a miracle. The seminar continued with discussions around the report.
