Hikmat Guliyev, Doctor of Sciences in Philology, Director of the Institute of Folklore of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) delivered a report at the international symposium held in Ankara.

The symposium was organized under the theme “The 100th Anniversary of the 1926 Baku Turkology Congress - Preparation for the Tomorrow of Turkology” by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey, the Turkish History and Culture Foundation, the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Folklore.

Hikmat Guliyev delivered the report entitled “Theoretical and Practical Perspectives of Turkological Folklore Studies in the Context of the 100th Anniversary of the First Turkological Congress”, co-authored with Doctor of Sciences in Philology Safa Garayev.

The concept of Turkological folklore studies, its methodological foundations and application prospects were brought to the center of attention in the report. The scientist noted that Turkological folklore studies refer to a complex humanitarian research direction that studies the folklore of the Turkic peoples with integrative methods as an expression of collective memory, social relations and cultural identity, based on the principles of comparative analysis, digitalization and scientific ethics and elevates the emotional Turkic discourse to the level of rational scientific “logy”.

In conclusion, it was mentioned that Turkological folklore studies have the potential to comprehensively explore the collective thought models and common and specific value systems of the Turkic peoples. Joint scientific networks and digital platforms to be created in this direction can create conditions for the transition of both theoretical and applied research to a qualitatively new stage.
