The commemorative event titled “Khojaly Genocide: in the context of national memory and historical justice” dedicated to the 34th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide was held at the Institute of Folklore of ANAS. The event, held with the support of the Institute’s NAP Territorial Party Organization, began with the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The memory of our martyrs and the victims of the Khojaly genocide who sacrificed their lives for the freedom and territorial integrity of our homeland was commemorated with a minute of silence. The event was attended by Vugar Isgandarov, a member of the Parliament of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Eldeniz Namazov, a retired colonel of the Armed Forces and employees of the Institute. Later, the film produced by the Folklore Studio was shown.

The event was opened by the Director of the Institute, Doctor of Sciences in Philology, Associate Professor Hikmat Guliyev. Hikmat Guliyev said that our state had consistently worked to convey the truth about the Khojaly genocide to the world community and the “Justice for Khojaly!” campaign had not stopped for a single day. He noted that thanks to the far-sighted policy of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev and the heroism of our brave Army, historical justice had been restored and Khojaly, Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur had returned to their true owners. The director mentioned that promoting the truths of Khojaly internationally and conveying them to future generations were both a moral duty and an important task facing the scientific community.

Then the reports were heard during the continuation of the memorial event by Vugar Isgandarov, Eldeniz Namazov, PhD, associate professor Ilhama Gasabova, Aydin Mustafayev and Saadat Ibrahimli.

At the end, the Director of the Institute, Doctor of Sciences in Philology Hikmat Guliyev expressed his gratitude to Vugar Isgandarov and Eldeniz Namazaov, who attended the event as guests and commemorative photos were taken.
