The book “Azerbaijani folklore thought: tradition and modernity” has been published

By the decision of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS, the book “Azerbaijani folklore thought: tradition and modernity” by Elchin Galiboglu, a leading researcher of the Department of Mythology, Doctor of Philosophy in Philology, Associate Professor, was published.

In the book Azerbaijani folklore thought from traditional and modern perspectives is analyzed. The work not only explores the deep roots and development of folklore, but also covers its impact on the modern era, the rich analyses from both theoretical and practical aspects are given.

In the study the various aspects of Azerbaijani folklore are extensively analyzed. Topics such as epic thought, pantheistic views, national values and family traditions, mythological images, the ideas of Good and Evil are discussed in various sections. The study of genres in folklore studies and the relationship of folklore thought to modern demands are also drawn to the attention.

In the first sections of the book important works that represent the ancient mythological thinking of the Azerbaijani people, especially the epic “The Book of Dede Gorgud” are analyzed. Focusing on how the epic reflects the mythological and social values, as well as the people’s way of life, the author mentions how this work preserves the spirit and worldview of the people.

The scientific editor of the book is Doctor of Sciences in Philology, Professor Seyfaddin Rzasoy, the reviewers are Doctor of Sciences in Philology, Professor Ramil Aliyev and Doctor of Sciences in Philology, Associate Professor Shakir Albaliyev. Professor Ramil Aliyev wrote a foreword to the book titled “A unique look at Azerbaijani Folklore Thought”. In the book the various aspects of Azerbaijani folklore are studied.
