Doctor of Philosophy in Philology Tajir Gurbanov has been appointed head of the department Ashiq Creativity

Doctor of Philosophy in Philology Tajir Gurbanov has been appointed head of the department Ashiq Creativity of the Institute of Folklore. In this regard, the Director of the Institute, Doctor of Sciences in Philology Hikmat Guliyev introduced the new head of the department to the staff of the Ashiq Creativity.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Hikmat Guliyev said that after the death of the well-known ashiq scholar, Doctor of Philosophy in Philology, Associate Professor Elkhan Mammadli, the activities of the department were carried out by Tajir Gurbanov.  The director mentioned that Tajir Gurbanov had conducted consistent and systematic scientific research in the field of ashiq creativity for many years and had published numerous articles and monographs. His scientific works had been highly appreciated by experts.

Hikmat Guliyev expressed his belief that Tajir Gurbanov’s scientific responsibility and organizational experience would make a significant contribution to the more efficient organization of the department’s activities and the successful realization of the scientific goals set by the institute in the direction of researching and promoting the ashiq heritage.

At the meeting Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs of the Institute of Folklore, Doctor of Philosophy in Philology, Associate Professor Afag Ramazanova and the Scientific Secretary of the Institute, Doctor of Philosophy in Philology, Associate Professor Elchin Abbasov, PhD Sahiba Pashayeva expressed their appreciation for the appointment of the new leader.

Speaking at the end, Doctor of Philosophy in Philology, Associate Professor Tajir Gurbanov expressed his gratitude to the leadership and staff of the Institute for the shown trust.

It should be noted that Tajir Gurbanov received his secondary education in his homeland, Agbaba and graduated from Baku State University. He has been working at the Institute of Folklore of ANAS since 2000. In 2011 he defended his PhD thesis in Philology on the topic “Agbaba ashiq environment” and received a scientific degree.

In addition to being the author of numerous books and articles dedicated to the study of Azerbaijani folklore, especially the Aghbaba ashiq environment Tajir Gurbanov collected rich folklore materials from various regions, compiled and edited a number of important scientific publications.
