The directions of activities of the Department South Azerbaijan Folklore for 2026 were discussed

The meeting dedicated to the scientific and scientific-organizational activities of the Department South Azerbaijan Folklore of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS for 2026 was held. The meeting was attended by employees of the department and extensive discussions were held on current scientific and organizational issues on the agenda.

Opening the meeting with an introductory speech, the head of the department, Doctor of Sciences in Philology, Associate Professor Matanat Abbasova noted that the report on the scientific and scientific-organizational activities of the department for 2025 was discussed and successfully adopted by the Scientific Council. The scientist mentioned that, unlike previous years, the report of this year was organized in a hybrid format at an expanded meeting of the Scientific Council and the Institute’s staff was closely acquainted with the work carried out in various departments.

This year the activity plan of the South Azerbaijan Folklore Department was also discussed widely at the Scientific Council of the Folklore Institute and the tasks facing the employees were clarified. The scientist mentioned that in 2026, work would continue on the collection, study, systematization and inclusion of South Azerbaijani folklore into scientific circulation and the implementation of existing scientific projects would be kept in the spotlight.

At the meeting the individual work plans of the department's scientific staff for 2026 were presented. Based on the presented plans the main scientific directions, research topics and priority areas of activity were determined. In addition, the topics of scientific articles to be prepared during the year and the individual scientific activity plans of each employee have been determined.

In the meeting it was also noted the importance of the scientific staff of the department active participation in the internal events of the Institute, as well as in national and international scientific conferences. It was noted that representation in such scientific platforms would make a significant contribution to increasing the scientific reputation and expanding international scientific ties.

In conclusion, the head of the department, Doctor of Sciences in Philology Matanat Abasova noted that the timely and high-quality implementation of the tasks set for 2026 was of particular importance in terms of the study, protection and promotion of the folklore heritage of South Azerbaijan.
