Associate Professor of the Institute of Folklore Aynur Ibrahimova held master classes dedicated to Azerbaijani-Uzbek folklore relations at Urgenj State University
Leading researcher at the Institute of Folklore of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Philosophy in Philology, Associate Professor Aynur Ibrahimova held master classes on the subject “Azerbaijani and Uzbek Folklore Relations” at the Urgenj State University named after Abu Reyhan Biruni, located in the Khorezm region of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The classes, which began on the 6th of November in 2025, were intended for fourth-year students of the university’s Faculty of Philology and Arts and lasted for two months.
The sessions were met with great interest by the students and were accompanied by extensive scientific discussions around the topics. In her reports, Associate Professor Aynur Ibrahimova provided detailed information about the unique features and rich traditions of the theoretical heritage of folklore, current problems of Azerbaijani and Uzbek folklore studies, the classification of folk literature, the interaction of folklore with other fields of science and the early sources of oral folk creativity.
During the lessons, attention was drawn to Azerbaijani and Uzbek ceremonial folklore, small genres formed in connection with ceremonial folklore in both peoples, the characteristics of seasonal and ceremonial songs, ancient Turkic epics and the stylistic and formal characteristics of ashiq-bakhshi creativity. In addition, the history of the study of children’s folklore in Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, genres of children’s folklore, as well as topics related to modern folklore creativity were presented to the students.
As part of the master classes, Associate Professor Aynur Ibrahimova delivered reports on the topics of “Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and Azerbaijan-Uzbek cultural relations”, “Azerbaijani folklore and the Turkic area”, “Types and genres of Azerbaijani and Uzbek oral folk literature”, “Folklore and history”, “Folklore and language”, “Ancient Turkic epics and epics”, “Uzbek and Azerbaijani folklore researchers”. Associate Professor Aynur Ibrahimova also made classes dedicated to the life and work of Yusif Vezir Chamanzaminli, as well as folklore topics, for students at the Yusif Vezir Chamanzaminli Azerbaijani-Uzbek Friendship Center, which operated at the Faculty of Philology and Arts at the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Cultural Center at the university.
At the end of the educational process, the leadership of the Faculty of Philology and Arts presented the guest scientist with a letter of appreciation and commemorative gifts for scientific and pedagogical cooperation.
During the visit Associate Professor Aynur Ibrahimova delivered a report at the Kharazm Regional Pedagogical Master’s Center and at the Urgenj State University, at scientific and practical conferences dedicated to the 60th anniversary of Professor Jabbar Eshongulov and gave interviews to local television channels.
