THE COLLECTION AND PUBLICATION OF THE WESTERN AZERBAIJAN FOLKLORE CONTINUES SUCCESSFULLY AT THE INSTITUTE OF FOLKLORE
The next book from the “The Western Azerbaijan Folklore” series has been published at the Institute of Folklore of ANAS. The book contains folklore samples collected from the residents of the Western Azerbaijan settled in the Goygol region. As it is known, the Western Azerbaijanis living in the Goygol region are mainly deported from the Goycha and Vedi districts. Some of them were forcibly removed from their native lands and resettled to these areas during 1948–1953 years and the vast majority in 1988.
In the book the information collected from the Western Azerbaijanis about the mass violence committed against Azerbaijanis by Armenians in 1918, as well as the tragedies experienced during the 1988 deportation is given in the part of “Memoirs”. These materials are of significant scientific importance in terms of preserving historical memory. The book is also distinguished by its rich ethnographic materials specific to the Goycha region.
It should be noted that the 400-page book was published by the publishing house “Science and Education”. The materials were collected, compiled and the author of the foreword was PhD in Philology Ilkin Rustamzade.
