Reports on the study of regional and multicultural folklore environments were discussed at the meeting of the Scientific Council
The annual reports for 2025 of the departments operating in the field of research of regional and multicultural folklore environments were discussed at the extended meeting of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS. The meeting, held in a hybrid format, presented the scientific and scientific-organizational activities of the departments, research conducted and published works, the collection of folklore from the field, as well as the results of international cooperation.
The meeting first heard the report of the Department South Azerbaijan Folklore for 2025. Head of the Department, Doctor of Sciences in Philology, Matanat Abbasova, presented information on the extensive research activities carried out by the department during the year and the main scientific results achieved. According to the report, the research was conducted in the department in four main areas this year. During 2025 the employees of the department published 3 articles, 1 textbook and 1 monograph in local scientific journals. In general, the department expanded its work in the field of collecting and systematizing South Azerbaijani folklore and continued its work on preparing Turkic folk epics for publication.
The report about the activities of the Department of Folklore of national minorities of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS for 2025 was presented by the head of the department, Doctor of Sciences in Philology Oruj Aliyev. In the report it was mentioned that the department achieved a number of results in the field of studying the folklore of minority peoples during the year. In total, during 2025 the employees of the department prepared 18 articles, one of which was published in foreign and four in local scientific journals, at the same time 10 scientific articles are also in the process of being published.
At the meeting the report of the West Azerbaijan Folklore Department for 2025 was also heard. The report was presented by the head of the relevant department, deputy of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the West Azerbaijan Community, Doctor of Philosophy in Philology, Associate Professor Aziz Alakbarli. He also spoke about the history of the establishment of the department and its important achievements over the past period.
In the report it was mentioned that during 2025, the Western Azerbaijan Folklore Department was active in the field of both publishing books and scientific articles. The first volume of the book “Western Azerbaijan Heritage” was published in Azerbaijani, English and Russian by the head of the department, Aziz Alakbarli, and the employees of the department published articles on folklore, ceremonies, ethnic-cultural traditions and oral heritage in various scientific journals.
In general, significant work has been done at the ANAS Institute of Folklore in the direction of studying regional and multicultural folklore environments by 2025 and the research, collection and publications carried out by the relevant departments, as well as the results achieved in the field of personnel training and international cooperation, clearly demonstrate the quality of the scientific activities of the institute and its contribution to the preservation of its cultural heritage.
