On the 12th of November in 2025 the “International Dede Gorgud / Gorgud Ata” Symposium was held at Gorgud Ata University in Osmaniye, Turkey. The prestigious event, attended by leading scientific institutions of the Turkic world, was attended by the Head of the Department “Dede Gorgud” of the ANAS Institute of Folklore PhD., Professor Ramazan Gafarli and the Head of the Department of “Mythology” PhD., Professor Seyfaddin Rzasoy. At the opening session of the symposium, along with the heads of scientific and government institutions, Professor Ramazan Gafarli also delivered a report. The scholar’s report, “Spatial References in Dede Gorgud: Implementing the “Dede Gorgud Research Platform” attracted widespread interest. In the study “The Book of Dede Gorgud” is not only a literary monument, but also a model of cultural memory of the Turkic peoples and that the transfer of the epic from oral tradition to the written stage and from there to digital platforms requires new methodological approaches.

In the sixth session of the symposium, Professor Seyfaddin Rzasoy delivered a report on the topic of “Restoration of the Alp Aruz Variant of the Dede Gorgud Epic”. The scholar explained the stages of development of the Oghuzname tradition and the poetic-ideological differences between it and the “The Book of Dede Gorgud” and presented his scientific approach to the existence of Alp Aruz as a separate variant. The application of psychoanalytic, functional and social-anthropological approaches in the report further strengthened the novelty of the research.

On the next day of the event, Professor Ramazan Gafarli delivered his second report “The Book of Dede Gorgud: The Transformation of the Turkic Epic Heritage from Historical Copies to Digital Platforms” at the 9th session of the symposium. In the study the multivariate structure of the epic and its development prospects in the context of digital humanities, based on a comparative analysis of the Dresden, Vatican, Günbad, and Bursa copies were presented.

At the end of the symposium Professor Ramazan Gafarli was awarded the “Flag of the Republic of Turkey” award for his services in the field of science and culture. Publications of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS and the album “Azerbaijani Folk Epics” consisting of 10 discs were presented to the symposium management.
