Ali Dede Kalvali is both the creator of the tradition in the art of zurna-balaban and the artist who keeps it alive. He has preserved and developed his unique style in this art.

This was told by PhD Elchin Galiboglu, the grandson of Ali Dede from Kalva, in the statement to AZERTAC.

According to him, two main aspects combine in the work of Ali Dede Kalvali: magnificent militancy and eloquence. “The first publication about Ali Dede Kalvali was published in 1984. In the last year three new publications were published in different languages”.
