Professor Mahira Huseynova: “Our national musical instruments are an integral part of the spiritual identity of the Azerbaijani people”
On the 20th of November the 1st International Turkic World Traditional Music and Cultural Identity Symposium, dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of Kalvalı Ali Dede, began its work at the Central Scientific Library of ANAS. Speaking at the event, Vice-Rector of the Azerbaijan State University of Political Science and Law, Professor Mahira Huseynova, mentioned that the scientific events and symposia held on the eve of the 80th anniversary of ANAS are of great scientific and moral importance. He noted that the programmatic speech of the head of state President Ilham Aliyev, at the anniversary ceremony played an important roadmap role for the scientific community and mentioned the importance of the President’s calls to protect the purity of the Azerbaijani language, strengthen the country’s science and increase the responsibility.
Professor Mahira Huseynova touched upon the importance of introducing the legacy of Kalvali Ali Dede to the younger generation, saying that 150 years ago, being a “kalvali” required great craftsmanship, deep spiritual values and mastery. Today, our youth do not understand the content of those traditions. The scientist noted that such events, in addition to making a significant contribution to the education of young people and enriching their knowledge, increase their interest in our national musical heritage and spiritual values.
At the end of his speech, he expressed his gratitude to the organizers and participants of the event and said that he was confident that a perfect research work on the life and work of Ali Dede Kalvali would be prepared. He also expressed his belief that the symposium would leave deep impressions in the memories of the participants and young researchers and would give impetus to the formation of new scientific directions in the relevant field.
