With the invitation of the vice-rector for International Relations of the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, Professor Mahira Huseynova, Director of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS, Doctor of Philology Hikmat Guliyev was a guest of the program “Ziyali” of West Azerbaijan Television. The program featured an extensive discussion on the topic of the Western Azerbaijan folklore, which is an integral part of the Azerbaijani folklore map. In his speech, Hikmat Guliyev spoke about the multi-faceted work carried out at the Institute of Folklore to systematically collect, publish and study the rich folklore heritage of the Western Azerbaijan region.

The scientist noted that the Western Azerbaijan folklore was an important part of the cultural memory of not only one region, but also of all of Azerbaijan. According to his thoughts, the research conducted in this direction was of strategic importance both in terms of restoring folk memory and re-actualizing our historical and cultural heritage. During the conversation, moderated by Professor Mahira Huseynova, views were also exchanged on the archiving of the Western Azerbaijani folklore, digitization of expedition materials, new publication plans and opportunities for scientific cooperation.

At the end of the program Hikmat Guliyev expressed his gratitude to Professor Mahira Huseynova for the sincere invitation and the discussion of a topic of great scientific, cultural and strategic importance.
