In accordance with the state policy and large-scale measures carried out in the direction of digital transformation and development of artificial intelligence technologies in our country in recent years, purposeful work was carried out at the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and significant results were achieved. Under the leadership of the President of ANAS, academician Isa Habibbayli, the important steps were taken to expand innovative multidisciplinary research, in particular, the application of artificial intelligence in the field of Humanities and Social Sciences. These reforms played a huge role in the training of highly qualified personnel and the formation of new scientific directions.

By the decision of the Higher Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, director of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS, Associate Professor Hikmat Valeh oglu Guliyev was awarded the degree of Doctor of Sciences in Philology in the specialty 5719.01 – “Folklore Studies” (subject: “Internet folklore: theoretical-methodological context and folkloric meaning creativity”).

The dissertation work was prepared within the framework of joint scientific cooperation between the Institute of Folklore of ANAS and the Institute of Information Technology of the Ministry of Science and education of the Republic of Azerbaijan for about 10 years.

It should be noted that associate professor Hikmat Guliyev’s doctoral dissertation on “Internet folklore: theoretical-methodological context and folkloric meaning creativity” appeared on the basis of multidisciplinary methodology, socio-anthropological folklore studies approach and application of Information Technologies.

In 2015 he defended his thesis on the topic “The Wise Old Man Archetype in Azerbaijani Folklore” at the Institute of Folklore of ANAS. In 2018, he was awarded the title of Associate Professor in Folklore Studies.

He carried out systematic and consistent scientific research in priority areas such as specific features of the virtual folklore environment of Azerbaijan, dynamics of digital folklore resources, collection, classification and multiparameter analysis of Internet folklore.

H.Guliyev is known in our country as one of the leading experts in this field. He is the author of 6 books and about 60 scientific articles. Some of the scientific articles of the scientist were published in the Republic, others in international scientific publications. He has published 4 scientific articles in journals indexed in prestigious international databases such as Web of Science and Scopus. The scientist represented our country at a number of scientific conferences of the national and international level successfully.

At present, H.Guliyev continues his research in such topical scientific areas as the challenges of the IV Industrial Revolution and the changes observed in folk culture against the background of digital transformations, the study of artificial intelligence and folklore relations, and modern problems of Internet folklore.
