Scientific Session on the theme “Seyid Azim Shirvani: folkloric thought and classical artistic interpretation” was held at the Institute of Folklore
Scientific Session on the theme “Seyid Azim Shirvani: folkloric thought and classical artistic interpretation” dedicated to the 190th anniversary of the prominent representative of the 19th century Azerbaijani literature, poet and enlightener Seyid Azim Shirvani was held at the Institute of Folklore of ANAS. Opening the event, director of the Institute, Doctor of Sciences in Philology Hikmat Guliyev spoke about the importance of the Scientific Session held within the framework of the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On the celebration of the 190th anniversary of Seyid Azim Shirvani” dated April 04, 2025. The scientist noted that in the history of Azerbaijani culture, Seyid Azim Shirvani has a special place as a powerful poet, who, on the one hand, keeps the classical traditions alive and on the other hand, a great educational figure with a social position, open to innovation. Therefore, analyzing the work of Seyid Azim Shirvani, one should focus not only on the glorification of spiritual beauty in the ghazals, but also on satires that express a sharp attitude to the socio-political events of the time.
At the end of his speech H. Guliyev, considering the reports to be heard within the framework of the Scientific Session, noted the importance of strengthening the perspective of Folklore Studies at the Institute of Folklore in future studies devoted to the relations of folklore and written literature.
