The employee of the Institute of Folklore took part in the International Symposium held in Turkey

On the 09th-10th of May in 2025 the International Symposium “Yildırım Bayazid: scientific research and innovation” was held in Bursa, Turkey, organized by Bursa University of Technology and Bursa Yıldırım Municipality. The symposium was attended by representatives from 24 countries. At the symposium, which took place in a hybrid format, reports on research in economics, history, sociology, humanities, modern logistics and other areas were presented.

The symposium was also attended by Zafar Farhadov, the senior researcher of the department of Folklore collection and systematization of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS. He made a report on the theme “The concept of time and space in legends”. In his speech, our employee analyzed the concept of real time and space and different aspects of time and space in legends and made comparisons on the concepts of real (profane) and sacral space, eternal and transient time, based on examples, he substantiated scientifically that these concepts are built on opposite poles in legends.

The report was met with interest and a broad discussion was held around the topic.
