The scientific session dedicated to the 80th anniversary of ANAS was held at the Institute of Folklore

The Institute of Folklore of ANAS held a scientific session on “Passengers of the road extending from ARDS to ANAS: Azerbaijani folklorists” dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.

Opening the event, director of the Institute, PhD in Philology, associate professor Hikmat Guliyev said that on the 18th of March 18 in 2025 the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed an order “On the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences”. In this regard the various events are planned to be held in scientific institutions until the end of the current year.

Associate Professor Hikmat Guliyev noted that the consideration of the history of the development of Azerbaijani folklore studies within the framework of the 80th anniversary of ANAS, in particular, the discussion of the work done in the field of folklore studies at the stage from the Azerbaijan Research and Development Society to the establishment of ANAS is one of the topical issues.

Then the reports of the Scientific Session were made. Deputy director for scientific work of the Institute, PhD., associate professor Afag Ramazanova made a report on the theme “Azerbaijan Research and Development Society and its Folklore Commission”. Then the reports such as “Alexander Bagri’s place and role in the activities of the Azerbaijan Research and Development Society” by Akifa Khalilova, “The great figure of Azerbaijani Folklore studies Mammadhuseyn Tahmasib” by PhD. Khayala Agayeva, “Veli Khuluflu as a collector and researcher of the epic “Koroglu” by the post graduate student of the Institute of Folklore ANAS Ilkin Eminova, “Hamid Arasli’s folklore study activity” by PhD. Vusal Safiyeva.

Then, the head of the department of Folklore of Turkic Peoples, Professor Afzaladdin Asker and the leading scientific worker of the department of Mythology, PhD., Associate Professor Elchin Galiboglu spoke about the relevance of the topics discussed and the great impetus given to the collection, publication and study of examples of oral folk creativity by the Azerbaijan Research and Development Society under the leadership of the prominent folklorist scientist H.Zeynalli, in which the Folklore Commission also operated.

At the end the interesting scientific discussion was held on the topic and the questions were answered.
