Our employee gave an interview to AzTV about “Kichik chille”
Leading researcher of the department Mythology of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS, PhD in Philology, associate professor Ilhama Gasabova gave an interview to Azerbaijan television (AzTV) about “Kichik chille”. In the interview it was said that from that day “Boyuk chille” was giving way to “Kichik chille”.
“Kichik chille” usually lasts about 20 days. In the past, according to the belief of the people, certain ceremonies were held during “Kichik chille” and “Chille watermelon” was cut. The holiday Khidir Nabi, which symbolizes abundance and fertility, is still held in our regions in the first decade of “Kichik chille”.
Our employee notes that, unlike “Boyuk chille” the period “Kichik chille” are more dynamic and changeable. Although the weather is mild in the period “Boyuk chille”, in “Kichik Chille”, which lasts until the night of February 19-20, the days usually are much colder.
