A scientist from the Folklore Institute made a report at the XIV International Istanbul Scientific Research Congress

The XIV International Istanbul Scientific Research Congress was held on the 26th-27th December in 2024 jointly organized by Seljuk University, Giresun University, BZT Turan Academy of the Republic of Turkey, University of Pristina of Kosovo and Annamalay University of India.

At the congress, organized in a hybrid format, leading researcher of the department Mythology of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS, PhD, associate professor Shakir Albaliyev made an online report on the topic “The feast of sacrifice is a manifestation of a system of mythical-religious beliefs”.

In the report it is mentioned that the act of sacrifice in the ethno-psychology of the Azerbaijani people stems from mythical worldviews and is reflected in folk sayings and beliefs”. At the same time, the existence of human sacrifice in ancient times, the fundamental impact of this religious-mythological tradition on people’s worldview with the emergence of Islam and the eventual replacement of human sacrifice with animal sacrifice were considered the civilized event.

It is planned to publish the reports of the congress, which was attended by scientists and researchers from thirty six countries.
