Associate Professor of the Institute of Folklore participated in the international symposium held in Bosnia and Herzegovina
The 3rd International Symposium on Turkish Language Teaching and Turkology in the Balkans was held on November 13-15, 2024, jointly organized by the Turkish Education Foundation, New York University of Tirana, Balkan Research Center, International University of Sarajevo, Yunus Emre Institute, Committee of Turks and Related Communities Abroad, International Balkan University and Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA).
The aim of the symposium, hosted by the International University of Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina and titled “City, culture and civilization: The Balkans” was to bring together scholars conducting research on the Balkans in various fields of social sciences, with a focus on teaching Turkish and Turkology and to identify, evaluate and present to the public the works and studies presented in a cultural context.
The three-day symposium featured panel discussions on topics such as “Interaction in Language and Literature: The Place of Turkish in the Balkans and Literary Sources”, “Cultural Identity, Space and Memory in the Balkans”, “Traces of Art and History in Balkan Geography: Literature, Poetry and Space”, “Artistic Expression of Language and Culture in the Balkans: Music, Media and Cinema”, “New Turkish Literature and Novel in the Balkans”, “Turkish Teaching and Teaching in the Balkans: Pedagogical Approaches”, “History, Memory and Politics in the Balkans”, “City, Identity and Literature in the Balkans: Historical Traces and Approaches”, “Language, Literature and Culture in the Balkans: Comparative Studies and Socio-Cultural Analyses”, “History, Architecture and Literature in the Balkans: Wars, Cultural Influences and Literary Perspectives”, “Turkish Teaching in the Balkans: Methods, Educational Status and Graduate Employment”, “Language and Vocabulary Studies: Turkish Language and Dialect Studies in the Balkans” and others were made.
The symposium was also attended by the leading scientific worker of the Department of Mythology of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS, PhD., associate professor Maleyka Mammadova. She made a report on the topic “Birth rituals in the culture of Azerbaijan and Bosnia and Herzegovina” at the panel session named “Cultural practices and common heritage in the Balkans: religion, customs and Turkish culture” and was awarded a certificate of the symposium.
