Leading researcher of the department of Western Azerbaijan Folklore of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS, PhD in Philology, Associate Professor Nigar Hasanova was a guest of the program “Western Azerbaijan Speaks” broadcast of Yevlakh television “EL”. The program on the topic of “Western Azerbaijan Folklore” analyzed Western Azerbaijan folklore, the expression of the misfortunes inflicted on Western Azerbaijanis in folklore and historical-folklore relations. Today information was provided on the collection, systematization and study of Western Azerbaijan folklore at the Institute of Folklore. In this regard, attention was also drawn to the results of the republican scientific conference on “Western Azerbaijan Folklore: Problems and Prospects” organized by the Institute of Folklore of ANAS.

During her speech Nigar Hasanova brought to attention the proverbs, beliefs, applause, etc. folklore samples collected from Western Azerbaijanis settled in Yevlakh and expressed her interest in the folk etymology of toponyms. She noted that the facts show that even though Western Azerbaijanis were scattered to different regions of our country and mixed with the population of the area they settled, they were able to preserve their customs and traditions, as well as their dialect characteristics when speaking.
