Hikmat Valeh oglu Guliyev

  • Hikmet Valeh oglu Guliyev was born on the 10thof April in 1985 in the village of Chopadere of Zangilan region.
  • He graduated with honors from the Faculty of Philology of Baku State University in 2002-2006 with the Bachelor’s degree and 2006-2008 with the Master’s degree.
  • He began his career in 2005 as a senior laboratory assistant at the Institute of Folklore of ANAS and worked in the positions of a junior research worker, a research worker, a senior research worker and leading research worker.
  • During 2010-2013 he worked as a tutor (academic advisor) at the Faculty of Philology of Baku State University.
  • During 2013-2015 he worked as the scientific secretary of the Presidium of ANAS.
  • At the same time, he is a leading researcher at the department of Folklore Theory of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS.
  • In 2015 he defended his thesis on the topic “The Wise Old Man Archetype in Azerbaijani Folklore” at the Institute of Folklore of ANAS.
  • In 2015 and he defended his doctoral dissertations on the topic “Internet Folklore: Theoretical-Methodological Context and Folkloric Meaning Creation” in 2024.
  • In 2018, he was awarded the title of Associate Professor in Folklore Studies.
  • In 2024 defended his doctoral dissertations on the topic “Internet Folklore: Theoretical-Methodological Context and Folkloric Meaning Creation”.
  • Was awarded the academic degree of Doctor of Philology by the decision of the Higher Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated June 25, 2026.
  • He was appointed as the Director of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS by Order No. 14 of the President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences dated February 10, 2025.
  • He is the author of 6 books, about 60 scientific articles published in the republic and abroad, a participant in a number of international conferences.
  • 4 articles by him on Internet folklore have been published in journals indexed in international databases (Web of Science, Scopus, etc.).
  • Since 2023 he has been teaching a new subject area “Internet folklore” at Khazar University for the Azerbaijani humanitarian education system at the master’s level.
  • He is a member of the New Azerbaijan Party since 2005.
  • He is a member of the Editorial Board of a number of foreign journals on Ulakbim Dergipark Scientific platform and its representative in Azerbaijan.
  • During 2016-2019 he was the editor of the scientific-journalistic program “Science and Innovation”, a joint project of Azerbaijan State Television (AzTv) and ANAS, with 60 episodes broadcast.
  • He is a member of the Editorial Board of the journal ‘Literary Heritage’ of the Alisher Navoi State Museum of Literature of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the journal ‘Epos’ of the Manas Academy of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan.

 

Main scientific results and innovations:

  • Determination of semantic structure and image paradigms of Wise old archetype in Azerbaijani folklore;
  • Investigating the archetypes in the folklore texts (Dede Gorgud, Oghuz Kagan, Koroglu, Molla Nasreddin) and their socio-cultural forms of manifestation (Institute of wisdom, elder, seyid, etc.);
  • The influence of globalization, digitalization, virtualization processes on folk culture, the study of the nature of folklore in the socio-technological and techno-culturological environment, the study of artificial intelligence and folklore relations;
  • Investigation of the specifics of the virtual folklore environment of Azerbaijan within the framework of theoretical and methodological problems of internet folklore;
  • Researching the specifics of the Azerbaijani-language virtual folklore environment within the framework of theoretical and methodological problems of Internet folklore;
  • Studying the relationship of folklore with modern socio-cultural processes in the socio-anthropological context and introducing new scientific-theoretical and applied directions into Azerbaijani folklore studies;
  • Studying the changes in form and content that occur in the transition from traditional folklore to Internet folklore, revealing the specific characteristics of Internet folklore;
  • Studying the dynamic nature of digital folklore resources emerging in new techno-cultural and socio-technological conditions, collection, classification and multi-parameter analysis of Internet folklore;
