The regular scientific seminar of the Department of Folklore of Turkic Peoples at the Institute of Folklore was held. Along with the department’s staff, the seminar was attended by employees of the Department of Folklore Collection and Systematization, as well as the PhD student of the Azerbaijan National Conservatory.

At the scientific seminar, Laman Vagifgizi (Suleymanova), a leading researcher at the department, Doctor of Philosophy in Philology and Associate Professor, presented a paper entitled “The Sheki Garagoyunlu Community and Its Folklore”.

She noted that over the past 30 years, Azerbaijani folklore has been collected and published by individual regions. This has enabled researchers to gain information about different folklore regions and their regional characteristics. However, in the course of collecting regional folklore more extensively, it becomes evident that each region also contains various ethnographic subregions, which likewise need to be systematically documented and studied.

Laman Vagifgizi (Suleymanova) also spoke about Garagoyunlu folklore, focusing on the similarities and differences between these folkloric traditions and the folklore of Sheki, as well as that of Garagoyunlu communities living in other regions of Azerbaijan.

The seminar continued with discussions on the presented paper.
