A scientific seminar on the topic “Degenerative time and its structure” was held at the Department of Ashug creativity of the Folklore Institute. The seminar was attended by employees of the department. The report was delivered by the senior research fellow of the department, Doctor of Sciences in Philology, Professor Ramil Aliyev.

The seminar provided information about various forms of the concept of time in epic poetics and their structural features. It was noted that in folklore texts, time acts not only as a category that determines the chronological sequence of events, but also as one of the important components of artistic thinking. In this regard, various time models such as eschatological time, mythological time, ethnographic time and biological time are observed in epics.

At the end of the seminar discussions were held around the topic, the questions were answered and it was mentioned that the study of the category of time in epic poetics was one of the current directions for folklore studies.
