A meeting was held at the Sabail District Executive Power on the topic “From Historical Memory to the Future: Architectural Heritage of Western Azerbaijan”. First, the participants visited the monument to the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and laid flowers in front of it. The memory of the National Leader was commemorated with respect and honor.

Within the framework of the meeting, Aposh Valiyev, a leading researcher at the Department of Western Azerbaijan Folklore at the Institute of Folklore of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Philosophy in Philology, was first introduced to the regional community as the representative of the Western Azerbaijan Community for the Sabail region.

During the meeting, the historical significance of the architectural examples of Western Azerbaijan, the importance of their protection and the role of public initiatives in this direction were discussed. Aposh Valiyev noted that the activities of the representation would serve to promote the heritage of Western Azerbaijan, public awareness and strengthen coordination in this area.

At the end the participants mentioned the importance of such initiatives being sustainable and noted the importance of holding larger-scale meetings in the future. During the speeches, it was stated that as a result of the statehood strategy defined by the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the protection and promotion of historical and cultural heritage of Azerbaijan had always been one of the priority directions. It was brought to attention that this policy was successfully continued today by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.

It was noted that the projects implemented in the country in the field of urban planning and architecture under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, as well as the restoration and construction work carried out in the liberated territories, serve the protection and development of national heritage.
