The international scientific conference on the topic “From Manas to Aitmatov: Current Problems of the Humanities” was held in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, dedicated to the 70^th anniversary of academician Abdyldajan Akmataliyev. The conference was attended by scientists and specialists from Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tatarstan, China and other countries.

Deputy Director of the Institute of Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Sciences in Philology Mehman Hasanli and director of the Institute of folklore, Doctor of Sciences in Philology Hikmat Guliyev spoke at the opening-plenary session of the international scientific conference.

Director of the Institute of Folklore, Doctor of Sciences in Philology Hikmat Guliyev congratulated academician Abdildajan Akmataliyev and conveyed his best wishes on behalf of the staff of the Institute of Folklore headed by him. By the decision of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Folklore, the jubilee was awarded the diploma “Honorary Doctor” of the Institute.

Hikmat Guliyev made a report on the theme “Folklore and literature in the context of collective cultural memory: scientific approaches and Turkological perspectives of Academician Akmataliyev”. He noted that academician Akmataliyev, in addition to playing an important role in the development of Kyrgyz folklore and literary studies, was an outstanding researcher who systematically substantiated the spiritual and scientific line extending from the epic "Manas" to the work of Chingiz Aitmatov.

At the International Conference academician Abdildajan Akmataliyev was widely emphasized that he rendered important services in strengthening scientific ties among the countries of the Turkic world, developing joint projects and deepening integration in the humanitarian sphere.
