An event was held at the Institute of Folklore on the occasion of the 8th of March - International Women’s Day

The event was held at the Institute of Folklore of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences on the occasion of the 8th of March - International Women’s Day. Opening the event with an introductory speech, the director of the institute, Doctor of Sciences in Philology Hikmat Guliyev, congratulated female employees on the holiday and mentioned that their scientific and social activities play an important role in the development of society. He said that Azerbaijani women have historically fulfilled their mission of protecting national and spiritual values and passing them on to future generations. The director noted that female scientists working at the Institute of Folklore achieve important scientific results in the collection, research and publication of folk art and make significant contributions to the development of folklore studies.

In his speech Hikmat Guliyev also noted that the role of women in Azerbaijani society was highly valued at the state level. He mentioned that the activities by Mehriban Aliyeva, First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in public administration made a significant contribution to the more active participation of Azerbaijani women in public life. The director also said that the projects implemented by Mehriban Aliyeva in the humanitarian and cultural fields were of particular importance in terms of the protection and promotion of national and cultural heritage and also created an important incentive for scientists working in this direction.

Then, the deputy director for scientific affairs of the institute, Doctor of Philosophy in Philology, associate professor Afag Ramazanova, made a speech and congratulated the female employees on the holiday, wishing them success in their scientific and personal lives. She noted that female researchers working at the Institute of Folklore actively participated in conducting scientific research and preparing various scientific publications and as a result of their work, the institute published important monographs and folklore collections.

At the end of the event some of the employees institute such as Leyla Mammadova, Elnara Amirli, Khalida Mammadova, Saadat Ibrahimli, Jamila Novruzova, Rza Khalilov and Gulsumkhanim Hasilova made speeches and congratulated female employees on the upcoming holiday. In the speeches the active participation of Azerbaijani women in various areas of society, especially in science and culture were mentioned and noted their important role in the protection and development of national and spiritual values.
