Cooperation in Turkological folklore studies was discussed between the Turkish Culture and Heritage Foundation and the Institute of Folklore ANAS
A meeting was held at the headquarters of the Turkish Culture and Heritage Foundation between the organization’s president, professor Aktoti Raimkulova and the director of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS, Doctor of Sciences in Philology Hikmat Guliyev.
During the meeting the current status of the existing cooperation between the Turkish Culture and Heritage Foundation and the ANAS Institute of Folklore, the results of the implemented joint projects and prospective development directions were discussed in details.
The importance of jointly implemented scientific and publishing projects in 2025 was mentioned during the meeting. In particular, it was noted that the high-quality publication of the first volume of the multi-volume, multilingual Anthology “Turkic Folklore Heritage” – “Azerbaijani Heroic Epic” - prepared on the basis of scientific principles was an important contribution to the study and promotion of the folklore heritage of the Turkic world. In addition, the importance of the international scientific symposium on the topic “From Ashiq Alasgar to Uzeyir Hajibeyli: Cultural Codes of the Turkic World” in terms of exploring the common cultural memory of the Turkic peoples and forming new scientific approaches was highlighted.
The parties also discussed the work done and the upcoming tasks related to the preparation of “Azerbaijani Love Epics”, which will be the second volume of the Anthology. It was noted that this publication would make a significant contribution to the scientific presentation of the spiritual values, aesthetic thinking and rich folklore traditions of the Turkic peoples.
During the meeting, the tasks arising from the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on the 100th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress were also reviewed, the importance of developing Turkological research based on modern scientific approaches and strengthening international cooperation in this field was mentioned.
In this context Director of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS, Doctor of Sciences in Philology Hikmat Guliyev noted that one of the important scientific challenges put forward by academician Isa Habibbeyli in the discussions held under the leadership of the President of ANAS within the framework of the anniversary events was related to expanding the scope of Turkology, including literature, folklore, architecture, art history, history and other humanitarian fields.
During the meeting, issues of organizing an international symposium on “Turkological Folklore Studies: theoretical context, practical aspects and development prospects” together with the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation were also discussed.
The meeting continued in a mutual understanding and constructive atmosphere and concluded with an exchange of views on the prospects for future cooperation.
