Hikmat Guliyev: “Students’ participation in scientific research practice is a successful platform for them to gain new knowledge and skills”
These thoughts were expressed by Hikmat Guliyev, Director of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS, Doctor of Sciences in Philology, at the ceremony of presenting certificates to 4th-year students of the Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences of Khazar University, majoring in Philology.
As part of the fall semester of the 2025–2026 academic year the fourth-year students of the Philology at Khazar University successfully completed their research internship in folklore studies at the Institute of Folklore of ANAS.
Speaking at the ceremony, Director of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS, Doctor of Philology Hikmat Guliyev emphasized the importance of the existing scientific cooperation between the institute and the university. He noted that such internship programs played an important role in shaping studentsə scientific outlook and developing their practical knowledge and skills in the field of folklore studies. The scientist also mentioned that integrating students into the scientific environment at an early stage could make a significant contribution to their future scientific careers.
Hikmat Guliyev noted in his speech that from the beginning of October to the end of December, students became closely acquainted with the activities of the ANAS Institute of Folklore and obtained detailed information about scientific research and publications conducted in the field of folklore studies.
Speaking at the event, Dilbar Zeynalova, Head of the Department of Languages and Literatures at Khazar University, PhD, Associate Professor, noted that providing theoretical knowledge in a classroom setting alone was not enough to prepare qualified personnel who meet the requirements of the modern era. According to her thoughts, practical and research experience, direct communication with scientists and researchers and the formation of skills in using scientific sources are of particular importance. Dilbar Zeynalova mentioned that the conditions created at the ANAS Institute of Folklore, as well as the professional and responsible approach, had enabled students to organize their scientific and research experiences at a high level and to develop their knowledge and skills in accordance with modern requirements.
Then Doctor of Sciences in Philology, Associate Professor Matanat Abbasova and Doctor of Sciences in Philology, Associate Professor Leyla Mammadova made speeches and mentioned the students’ active participation in the internship and their great interest in scientific research.
At the end of the event Director of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS, Doctor of Sciences in Philology Hikmat Guliyev presented the certificates to the students.
