The monograph on the functional-semantic analysis of folklore and written literature has been published
By the decision of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS, the monograph entitled “Functional Semantics of Folklore Texts and Written Literary Examples” by Atif Islamzade, a leading researcher at the Department of Ceremonial Folklore and National Culinary Traditions of the Institute, Doctor of Philosophy in Philology, Associate Professor, was published.
In the monograph the examples of folklore and written literature are analyzed based on the structural-semiotic and functional-semantic approach, revealing the deep layers of meaning of the texts. Unlike the traditional explanations the author studied the text units within situational contexts, not static ones and scientifically demonstrated how the same word and sentence patterns acquire new semantic functions in different situations. This approach opens up broad methodological possibilities in terms of revealing the multilayered structure of the text.
One of the main scientific innovations of the monograph is the presentation of folklore and written literature samples as components of a single cultural system. The author shows that literary criticism should be expanded not only within the framework of written literature, but also within the context of general culture and folklore and written literature should be studied in interaction. In this regard, the study attracts attention as a study that strengthens methodological integration between folklore studies and literary studies.
The book specifically takes into account the semantic role of situations in text analysis, systematically examining associative relationships, the interrelationships of semantic layers and the concentration of information at different levels. This approach has yielded valuable results that reveal the internal mechanisms of the text. As a result of this approach the valuable results have been obtained that reveal the internal mechanisms of the text.
The monograph opens up wide opportunities for the study of folklore and written literary samples on the basis of a single method. The work can be used as a practical scientific resource for special courses at the philological faculties of universities, at the master and doctoral levels in the specialties of folklore, literary studies and mythology.
