Digital approaches and multidisciplinary research have expanded in the field of folklore studies

In accordance with the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev “On approval of the concept of digital development in the Republic of Azerbaijan” by the decision of the Presidium of ANAS, the Department of Digital Folklore and Netnographic Analysis was established at the Institute of Folklore and this year the event on the topic “Digital Literacy and Application of Artificial Intelligence Technologies in Scientific Research” was held at the Institute of Folklore with the participation of Professor Douglas Hartman of the University of Michigan and Associate Professor Dilek Altun of the Middle East University.

AZERTAC reports that it was told by Hikmat Guliyev, Director of the Institute of Folklore, Doctor of Sciences in Philology at the meeting of the Scientific Council dedicated to the report on scientific and scientific-organizational activities for 2025.

The director noted that in accordance with the challenges of digital transformations and the Fourth Industrial Revolution, multidisciplinary scientific research was conducted at the Institute of Folklore and the diploma Doctor of Sciences was obtained based on the defense of a dissertation on the topic “Internet folklore: theoretical-methodological context and folkloric meaning creation”, the PhD thesis on the topic “Folk Idioms in the Context of Electronic Information Culture” was defended. At the same time, the scientists of the institute became experts in the project “National Flavors” and the online platform of the same name, developed within the framework of joint cooperation between the Azerbaijan National Culinary Center under the State Tourism Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.
