By the decision of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS a new book “Cosmogonic and eschatological myths in a religious-mythological context (first and then the folklorization of end-time stories)” by Doctor of Sciences in Philology, Professor Fuzuli Bayat has been published. This research work, the third book in the series “Religious folklore”, was published by the publishing house “Science and education”. The work consists of “Preface”, four chapters, “Instead of the Conclusion” and an extensive list of sources.
In the book the process of folklorization of religious passages through the prism of the transition from religious texts to oral culture, in which the cosmogonic and eschatological concepts are analyzed on a scientific basis.
The author shows that religious sections have changed in different geographies and cultural contexts, these sections have been reconstructed in accordance with national values. In this case, along with the role of written sources in the formation of folklore, the influence of the oral environment and their mutual transitions are considered. In particular, the socio-psychological effects of cosmogony, eschatology, redeeming doctrine and religious myths are widely interpreted.
In the book it is also noted that in the modern era, due to the influence of mass media and digital technology, the rate of spread of religious groups has increased. At the same time, it is mentioned that in some cases these parts are manipulated, fake liberating images are created and religious ideas are used for political purposes.
This research by Professor Fuzuli Bayat is an important source in terms of understanding that religious texts and mythological elements change by living different ways in the context of folklore. The book provides a scientific approach to topical issues for researchers working in the field of folklore, theology and cultural studies. The series “Religious folklore”, consistently studied by the author, forms new methodological approaches at the intersection of religion and folklore and makes a significant contribution to research in this area.
