The event “The Academy’s Zangezurname: From Folklore Collections to Academic Researches” was held as part of the 11th Baku International Book Fair

The 11th Baku International Book Fair, organized by the Ministry of Culture, continues with an interesting and colorful program. This year the exhibition is dedicated to the theme “Techno-human: yesterday’s legend, today’s event”.

Azerbaijan National Academy Sciences is represented at a high level at the 11th Baku International Book Fair. The stand of the Academy of Sciences is interesting for the visitors. Deputies of the Milli Majlis, heads of international institutions and organizations, well-known scientists and specialists, representatives of educational institutions, as well as pupils and students get acquainted with the stand of ANAS.

The publications of ANAS were presented at the exhibition under the theme “In the Academy: Bibliographic Publications and Serial Academic Publications”. The next event held by ANAS within the framework of the 11th Baku International Book Fair was dedicated to the topic “The Academy’s Zangezurname: from folklore collections to academic researches”.

Opening the event with an introductory speech, President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli, mentioned that the exhibition was of great scientific and cultural importance against the backdrop of the current challenges of the modern world, played the role of an important platform that brought together representatives of science, literature and public opinion.

At the event Director of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS, Doctor of Philology, Associate Professor Hikmat Guliyev noted that the event was important in terms of the presentation of new books published by ANAS, as well as the formation of reading and book culture.

Hikmat Guliyev added that the exhibition also presented to visitors publications dedicated to valuable folklore samples collected by ANAS folklorists during folklore expeditions in Zangezur during 1980s and 1990s.

Hikmat Guliyev noted that the research presented at the exhibition in the fields of folklore, ethnography, linguistics and literary studies served to bridge the digital divide and strengthen moral resistance to national threats.

It should be noted that more than 120 local and more than 70 foreign publishing houses are participating in the XI Baku International Book Fair.

The exhibition will continue until October 7.
