The monograph entitled “Ideas of Turkic peoples about celestial elements” by Elnara Huseyngizi-Amirli, PhD, leading researcher of the department of Folklore of Turkic peoples of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS, has been published. The monograph it is said about the beliefs and texts associated with them, reflecting the cosmogonic notions of the peoples of Turkic origin. Comparing these texts collected and published from various sources, it is possible to observe the similarities and differences and see, on the one hand, the period when the ancient Turks lived in a single geographical space, and on the other hand, the historical process in which they separated and differentiated. Putting these texts together and evaluating them in a comparative way helps to restore archaic ideas about the universe. The creation of a scientific picture of the mythological worldview goes through a careful study of these texts.

In the book the ideas of the Turkic peoples about celestial bodies, their origin and unique features and their images of manifestation in folklore texts, as well as beliefs about natural phenomena and their occurrence, thoughts about the Earth and the sky are studied.

The concepts of the universe belonging to the Turkic peoples and the content and plot characteristics of the examples related to them were compared with the concepts in this direction of the peoples living in the nearby geography. During the comparison, the differences and similarities that emerged in the oral examples belonging to different peoples of the world are of particular interest.

The scientific editor of the monograph, published by the “Savad” publishing house, is Professor Afzaladdin Asgar and the reviewers are Professor Almaz Huseynova and PhD Gumru Shahriyar.
