Director of the Institute of Folklore of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Associate Professor Hikmat Guliyev and a group of researchers of the Institute visited Urganj State University (USU), participating in the second Turkic World Cultural Forum and IV International “Bakhshi” festival held in Khiva, Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of the visit, the official meeting was held with the participation of acting rector of USU Sardar Khojaniyazov, vice-rector for International Relations Gayrat Orazboyev, dean of the Faculty of Philology and art Dilshad Gayurpov, heads of departments of the faculty and other responsible persons.

During the meeting, the importance of friendly and brotherly relations between the peoples of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, the depth of historical, cultural and spiritual ties, unity of language and tradition, mutual respect and trust were mentioned.

The sides exchanged views on the expansion of relations in the scientific and cultural spheres and the Memorandum of cooperation was signed between the two organizations for this purpose. The document provides for the implementation of joint scientific research, the development and implementation of new projects, as well as joint scientific publications.

Then the guests got acquainted with the “Azerbaijan-Uzbek Friendship Center named after Yusif Vezir Chamanzaminli”, which operates at the Faculty of Philology and Art and participated in the course process.
